NM Cable (Romex)

Detailed Explanation

NM cable (commonly known by the brand name Romex) is covered by NEC Article 334. NM-B is rated for 90°C but its ampacity is limited to the 60°C column when used in residential applications. It cannot be used in commercial buildings above 3 stories, in wet locations, or where exposed to physical damage. NM cable must be secured within 12 inches of each box and at intervals not exceeding 4.5 feet.
